Incorporating pop colours into an old classic Dutch. The original materials and colours such as the red and yellow glass doors and red shades of the chimney, dictated the design for the kitchen and consequently the open space. The goal was to preserve the warm, inviting tones of the house's interior while infusing it with a fresh, contemporary feel.
Initially, the kitchen occupied a separate room within the open space, this created a division and cast shadows into adjacent areas. The decision was to tear down two of the three walls, keep one wall with an opening, this transformation flooded the space with light, resulting in a brighter environment. Central to the design is the introduction of a striking red kitchen island, serving as a focal point that connects with the open space. This bold pop of colour adds a dynamic contrast against the surrounding elements, injecting energy and personality into the room. A white back wall with a central window not only enhances the sense of space but also creates a visually appealing backdrop, especially when viewed from the room beyond the window. The renovated interior of the Dutch house achieves a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity.
